The school ran a lot more efficiently under the former principal, Mr. Seaman. The principal that is currently in charge lacks people skills, not only with students and staff, but with parents as well. When a parent encounters an issue at school, he/she depends on the administration to help find a resolution. The administration at WHS views the parents as adversaries which makes conflict resolution totally impossible. Parents need to know that their children are safe and are in an environment in which they will be taught with understanding and respect. They need to know that when a situation arises, they can count on the administration to take the necessary action to fix problems. Sadly, that is not the case with the administration at WHS. There is no partnership at this school between the staff, administration, student, and parent. Very Sad. The Middle schools were much better at handling problems and situations than WHS. So sad!

As a parent of a senior at WHS, I am disappointed with almost every aspect of this school. First, the AP program is a joke. My son took several AP classes in which the teacher did not finish teaching the material by semester end! To make up for his/her lack of teaching, my son had to sacrifice his afterschool and weekend hours to attend sessions where the remainder of the class was taught under the guise of AP test prep. This was completely unacceptable, and happened more than once. The athletes run the school and are allowed to join many school clubs (to benefit their resume for college) but sadly, are not required to attend regular meetings. If a non-athlete did this, they would be removed from the club, no questions asked.

I am a student at Westminster, and I think the academics and student performance is unsatisfactory. Some of the teachers barely prepare their students for exams. Students are failing. My middle school was ten times better than this school. I feel like there are too many kids in each class and the teachers cannot keep up with their students' needs. The school is crowded and disorganized, and the school seems to be falling apart. It needs some serious renovating!

I am a parent of a student at Westminster High School. I had originally wanted my child to attend a private high school, but I am glad I didn't. The academics are challenging with a variety of Honors and AP classes to place in the most selective colleges for students who apply themselves. The are a variety of sports and other extra curricular activites for everyone. Most of teachers work with both the kids and the parents when issues arise along with support staff/programs for both academic and personal issues. In additition, I can't say I know a principal that is more respected and liked by both the parents and the kids. So far WHS have been a win/win situation for us!

Although I feel most of the staff is great, I have to disagree with the 'zero tolerance' for drugs comment by another parent. Academics are mediocre;class sizes are too big. There are many AP courses, but not many students excelling in them. On a positive note, the principal is great at making sure parents are aware of upcoming events;he uses an automated phone call system that gives information. The after school learning center for free homework help/tutoring is awesome! Teachers have been very available when I've had concerns and met with me right away to address issues. Overall feeling:not a great school, but not the worst either.

Westminster Senior High School can be very disorganized at times, and there are so many disciplinary issues that need to be called to attention!

Well,I am proud to say that I go to WHS and its a awesome school. We have many different activities for all the students to particapate in,(sorry about the spelling errors =] ) and we have many great sport teams and not to mention a top notch principal. I have recently been diagnosed with a illness that will affect the rest of my life and the staff seems to help me out as much as they possibly can. We are Westminster. Go Owls!

My son is currently a junior at Westminster High School. His experiences during the last three years have been both academically and personnaly rewarding. Westminster High has one of the best music programs in the State of Maryland and my son has been fortunate to be part of this exceptional program. This said, there is still much room for improvement. Academically speaking a further reduction in class size and improvement in peer behavior will significantly improve the outcome for all of our children at WHS. National studies have revealed for years that enhanced fine arts programs (part of curriculum) enhance academic performance for those children involved. School systems in the central, south and western portions of our country have realized this and acted. There is a great need to enhance the funding directed at all of the fine arts programs at Westminster High School and throughout Maryland.

I'm not actually a parent, i'm a student and i love whs. It's an awesome school with tons of opportunities for us, as students, to grow and learn. Teachers are the best of the best and don't hold back their love to teach their love to teach the students. We are westminster. go owls!

I have had 3 children graduate from Westminster High School and my 4th child is a senior this year. I am very proud to let people know which school my children have attended. The administration is 'Top Notch', and do an excellent job. The principal, John Seaman, has an open door policy, and I feel very comfortable going to him with a question or concern. When it comes to behavior or drug problems the school has a 'zero' tolarance. I am especially elated about that.
